I live in an apartment and have a north-east window where most of my plants are kept. this year I am having problem with fungus gnats with my houseplants. I have tried putting a dish of vinegar near the plants, have put in fresh garlic, and have also allowed the soil to dry up. Nothing seems to be working. I live in midwest and soon the weather will change but I am not sure if this will kill the gnats.
Me too! I made a *terrible* mistake -- had the Pest Control folks spray the plants on my balcony where the gnats have taken residence -- plus the gnats were biting me -- I also have multiple chemical sensitivites -- they promised the spray wouldn't affect me and I thought it didn't because there was no odor. I was wrong. The day after *that* I read a suggestion in Organic Gardening magazine that one put a 1/4 inch of coarse sand on top of the potting soil -- seems it's supposed to smother the gnats. Good luck! jo
