Stoves that are sold at Home Depot. They are suppose to heat 4oo sq. feet? They look nice. Are they?

I bought 1 about 2 and 1/2 years ago, more for decorative purposes. I was very pleasantly surprised at how well it happens to heat the room as well. My livingroom is about 450 sq feet, and we have the unit on the complete opposite side of the room from the entrance. When you walk in the livingroom, it is a little warmer and as you get closer and closer to the unit, it gets warmer and warmer. Whats nice about the one I bought is that you can have the fire going with or without the heat on. I bought mine at a store called Villagers Hardware (It was in NJ, and it was a very scaled down version of Home Depot. In fact-it was owned by them-but I think they have since went out of business).

Hey I saw you post before, I think on 4 paws thread but thanks for the answer, I really need something and they are affordable and attractive. We have propane so that is not affordable to heat a 2100 sq. ft. home with bad insolation and single pane windows and only 1," 0 clearance" fireplace in one room. I`m Dawn too lol

OK this thread may be old, but the fireplace you're referring to is nothing more than an forced air electric heater, surrounded by an ornamental fauz fireplace decoration. If you think heating a room or a house with propane is expensive, wait'll you get your electric bill!
