Evening,

I have a two story home with hot water register heaters. I bought the house in June 2004.
When cold hit in '04, I bled the registers with no problems.
In summer of '05, I switched from oil to gas and installed a brand new Weil-McClain Ultra furnace (kicks butt, by the way). I bled the registers at beginning of cold season of '05 with no problems.

Today I turned up the heat to test the system and bleed out the registers, but this time, no water came out upstairs. Air yes, water no.
Water did come out downstairs just fine, but wasn't so much air downstairs this year.

Any thoughts or suggestions? Could it be that over the past two years I just bled out too much water from the system causing a pressure problem? If so, this it needs to be flushed and filled again or something?

Any help is welcome.
Thanks!
Annie

Great links.

Looks like I'm going to have to call in a professional. I've tried the items mentioned that I know how to do, but without luck.

Sometimes, it's oh, such a joy to own a house built in 1939. :o) fun fun!

Do you have the water turned off in your system during the off season? If so the water may have drained out of the upper registers due to a slight air leak (sometimes a vent valve will leak enough to let air in but not water out) Also look at the pressure gauge on your furnace to make sure there is pressure (I usually run mine around 15 psi)

We have a 1903 farmhouse with old hot water baseboard heat panels.
Usually I just keep a valve open until the water comes up.
Works for me anyway .
