Somehow, the settings on my camera got changed and I didn't realize it, so the pictures were taken with higher resolutions that I can't lower any smaller on my Adobe photo shop. Because of higher settings, I ran out of space on my card (I had other photos on it too), and didn't get many pictures like I wanted. These were all I got.
Here is a close up of part of the picture. Notice the jar of paint brushes on the chair? The words were painted on bricks, which is a part of my garden. I use them in the upright postion to make levels on my berms. She is going to redo the writing, by putting a plant stake along the path, and just remove the other letters. She is also going to put in another stepping stone under the word "garden". I mentioned to her that it looked like the path stopped and then you had to climb over plants to get to another stone. She realized it immediately. These stone paths going up a slight hill, are also part of my garden. See, I told you she used some of my garden. :-))
This is the first painting she did for the show. It is called "Rome wasn't built in a day". She painted the words in Italian on the painting. This is a mixed media, with acrylics and decopage. The paper on the painting is from Italy. She bought it this past summer when she was there.
This is when my camera gave out on me, so I didn't get the paintings write up of this one...sorry.
I feel so happy to see the finished work! Really. I have a smile on my face as I type. Your sister's painting is beautiful, especially the close-up where we can see the detail. I just love it!
Donna, it was so nice to go on this little journey with Sue (thru you). Her paintings are wonderful! I love the Italian one. totally different feel from the garden painting, of course. So I think the garden painting has to be my favorite. It's just lovely. but i do see what you mean about the 'break in the path', although that does happen in gardens when the plants make up their own minds where they want to go :-) as long as she is going to change it, can we see it again after? so nice that used your garden as inspiration
Thank you for the nice compliments for my sister. I will let her know.
She has also just painted 3 more pictures for another show they are having on Oct. 20th. This is being held at an old Edison power plant that has been closed for years. The theme for this show is "The power of Art". She painted one that has rusty old pipes, but has a lot of pastel colors in it. The other 2 are of the Pacific ocean...one is of under a pier and the other is of the shoreline. At least these are finished, but she is working on getting the show organized. They have to clean up some areas of the power plant and make areas to hang the art. This show will be a big show.
These are great . . . sorry to hear about the mishap with the camera, I hate it when that happens :(
Still you did good with the ones you were able to get . . . and we get to see them, so it's all good.
