Here's my latest watercolor Agave (I like them as they often have nice shadows, and don't take a huge amount of detail).

Palmbob, you do outstanding work. These images are very
3 dimensional, especially the americana variegata,
and why does it make me think of a party? The colors are
beautiful, crisp and clear.

You've really captured the depth in that first one, and the
serrated edges and shadows are wonderful in the
margaritae, actually in all of them.

Love them ALL. And I'm jealous.

lol! you got that right!!!! Deadline...deadlines...i am a free lance cartoonist and i have a couple of assignments...and i hate having to come up with pertinent illustrations...i am getting burned out...WAY back in the 70's i worked as a graphic artist...my job is now eliminated by computers...would do all kinds of exciting work like: graphs, hand drawn with rapidograph pens...logos for businesses...handdrawn with pens...hardline artwork for dept. stores..(to sell their children's clothes etc...BORING!!!) school sure didn't prepare you for real life work...i am retired now..and love it...but your work is superlative...hope you continue...my very last occupation was an art gallery, consultant...so much talent out there...so difficult to sell it! On that depressing note...however...i still get a zing when i see real talent...enjoy your wonderful gift!! sue

problem for me is absolutely NO ability to sell my own stuff. I can draw, and crank out lots of stuff in no time... but I can't market. I have no idea how to make a web site, and too busy to learn. Retirement is never gonna be an option. sigh... But at least I always have a hobby to keep me from going insane

Bob, You are so right...unfortunately if you exhibit your work in a gallery...they usually take 50%! you must do shows suck up to the corporate people. and more importantly the gallery owners.& their pet collectors...etc.etc.. have been in the position to witness the last person paid..(and sometimes not) is the ARTIST...if you sell your work at artshows...very demanding...some shows only accept artists that have won certain distinctions etc. etc. must have weekends to follow the show circuits. large inventory of work... pay the entry fee..and the expense of a professional setup...in this flagging economy my artist friends are struggling..people aren't willing to pay what your art should bring in most shows...ebay's self-representing artists, i have noticed brilliant people not even getting what their work merits. (but some do)..you must paint to please the trends...to sell your work. the right venue for the right buyers.if you find a rep. they will hound you to produce...and again be available for major shows...all for their cut of the sale...you are really excellent..and smart to do your work for yourself...ebay is an easy experiment to try...if you treat it as such ..and see what happens...you could sell some pieces and get exposure...my 25 Cents!! You are beyond a hobbyist..i think you know that...but first of all do it for your own pleasure. if that is what pleases you...then you are never disapointed...wow...amazing what one glass of sangria can do.. sorry...lol! sue.

Looked at your other threads - couldn't find the self-portrait but found the animal art - wonderful! Can't believe you don't have your work in a gallery. You could print notecards from your work and sell those. Have you thought about art festivals?

Would you put up a link to your self-portrait please.

I know what you mean about not being able to sell yourself. I have gone to workshops about it and read about it. Unfortunately I don't have the right personality. I get into shows now and then and there is one gallery that represents me. It isn't doing very well these days so neither am I. At one point they sold a lot of my work, not this year. Not enough to pay for the clay even. I just do my thing apply to get in a show or three a year and that is it. I am glad DH has a job that pays the bills. Whine, whine.

Time to smile and get to doing what I need to do for my show that opens Thursday evening.

Very nice work!
Watercolors are something I would like to spend more time with but get too frustrated. Like more control with gouache and water based oils.
A web site would be nice to see more of your work.

I look at art everyday and alot of watercolors. You have great use of cool colors looking very deep and warm ( not easy I know) the texture also is very well done .I feel the need too touch the painting The overall gravity of the light is composed like a macro Photo image which I do alot of and I have a softspot for! I know people whom have never sold a peice of work ,but my advice is to keep makeing it and store it till you have a bunch then find a forum to show it off Folks are fickle and you never know who might want what for what room or space so keep up the good work art is what makes the world go round not greed or money, but ALL ART!
FORM, FUNCTION, then Finace

P.S. I haven't sold a piece in over a year but people still look and I still toil at it!
