One question I get is about shapes. I just cut a maple leaf shaped mold that will make a smallish 12 inch pot.
Using a styrofoam slip mold you can do any shape or size or HEIGHT.
A slip mold can make great columns or bases for bird baths as long as you are careful to slip your mold up straight.
I have done 32 inch high fluted, spiral and 'odd' columns as bases for birdbaths. The difference is you fill in the mold as you go. I use a runny crete recipe, chunks of styrofoam and stucco wire which makes the column solid but light weight.
When you slip the mold up always leave about 1/3 of the mold on the hardened concrete then build on top of that.
