I would like to know the prices. I am in zone 7, Long Island, NY. This tree is a slow grower and my budget is comparable. What sizes and ages are these trees? Arden Edwards
The Coral Bark Japanese Maple (Sango-Kaku) is one of the most reasonably priced and easily found. I planted my little tree about seven years ago and it is about 6-8 feet tall now. It started as a 2 foot sapling with a couple of side branches and I paid between $20 and $30 for it. I have seen this variety for sale at the box stores at well under $100 for a much larger tree that you could enjoy through all the seasons. If you look in the Japanese Maple forum, you will see pictures of this tree starting when the leaves came out this spring.
There are other varieties of JMs that are similar in coloration, and if you post there, you will likely get information from some real experts! I am a novice with them.
