Still have to build a house to heat with it. Probably won't get a workout for a month or so.

You will love it.. We are on our second winter with our 4400 Woodmaster.
Hubby put a heater in the greenhouse and last night we had 8 degrees and it was 65 in there
I like the fact thast no mess in the house, and how much less propane we used. We still are on last Feb`s fill and still at 30%.We used to have to fill the pig 3 to 5 times a year .. Good luck on getting the house done..Aleta

If I was going to use wood to heat the house that would be the way I would want to go (other than a decorative fire in the fireplace). No mess, no fuss and no worry about chimney fires.. Good for you!

Thanks! I'm really looking forward to getting the new house buttoned up and starting the first fire. I had an indoor wood burner for eight years and lost my home to a house fire. It was either a candle or an electrical fire, but I was tired of all of the dirt, bark, ash, bugs . . . so I was ready to upgrade to this. Won't have to get up in the middle of the night to fill this one, either!

We have a Woodmaster 4400. They also make a 5500 and a corn burner.
We have a lumber yard that has the largest Woodmaster they make and they are burning there scrap wood and old pallets.
Ours heats 5000 sq ft.. We have the house 1500 sq ft . The garage is 26x32, and also my 8x10 greenhouse.. and we could heat another building with it. Each site has its own thermostate. We are also thinking about heating our hot water.
This is our second winter with it and it heats all of them well.
Our furnace holds 38 in logs and when it was 12 below a fill up lasted 13 hrs.
We buy our wood by the pulp cord , It runs $65 pre cord. you usually get about 2.5 face cord out of a pulp cord. We cut and split it ourselves.
This year we were lucky , we just got 17 pulp cord $ 900, A real great buy.
It takes us about 15 face cord to heat here in zone 5 Michigan we burn from October to May.. there are many websites for the outdoor stoves ,and many to choose from.. We paid 7200 for everything. That included the trench and the heater in the greenhouse and the garage. They hooked it up to our propane forced air furnace
hope this helps. No mater what one yu go with, yu will love it.. It also helps to have a generator on hand ,if the power goes out.. Aleta

I have a model made by Central Boiler. They have a great website about everything that you would want to know.

Stelco,

We've been considering a Central Boiler. Is there anything you'd (or anyone else who has one) care to share about it's performance?

Thanks,

I'd love to, but by the time we got the house to the point where I could have started using it spring was here. Little did I know that winter was coming back. Building this house has hit several road blocks along the way. I understand that's common when you build, but I had no idea that it could get this bad. I thought that I'd be in two months ago at the latest. We are still looking at several weeks before I can get and occupancy permit.

The only reservation that I have with the boiler is how much wood I'll use in a season. I did a lot of research and everyone that owns one loves it. I wish that I could offer a testimonial, Molly, but that will have to wait until next winter.

Thanks Mark. Hope you get to move into your new house soon and the boiler works well for you.
