And it's has rained here this morning! This year is certainly throwing some strange weather at us. I went shopping with a friend yesterday and we were in shirt sleeves. Ok, so mine was a corduroy shirt, but it's December for crying out loud.

The farm forum has certainly had it's ups and downs this past month. Lisa and her water well are wonderful news. Leaflady will be in all our prayers this season, I'm sure. And I am happy to report that Mike is home. He was seen walking around the yard yesterday afternoon. Stan hasn't talked with him as he was done with barn cleaning before they got home, but I imagine he'll probably say hi today. Stan is going to clean and then help another neighbor with some barn repairs. He is getting stretched just a bit thin. He gets really quiet when he gets tired and last night was a nearly silent evening. He has a cow that insists on kicking him every milking and I think that she is probably the straw. I don't know what he's going to do with her. I vote for the sale barn, but she's proabaly a good one, so we'll see.

I just checked the corn price - 3.70 even a bushel. Today is corn contract day. We sent out 5 letters and only had one quote come back. It is not a buyer's year. We contract for about 90 ton for a full year and take it along until Novemeber 30. I think it was about $100 a ton last year and it's going to be $127 this year. If the milk price goes up as they say it should, the extra will all be eaten up in feed costs - pardon the pun. Another one of those you can't win for losing years.

The grandkids are staying over night tonight to help decorate the Christmas tree. I guess I'd better get going so I can be ready. I think it's going to be a long day.

editted to say that last year corn was $85 a ton, it was the year before it was $100. Just trying to keep the fact straight!
