How do you open rose hips? What is the easist way?? The little hairs in the hips eat me up. They break my hands and arms our with a rash that kinda looks like poison ivy/oak. Any suggestions?

Cine:
I have never heard of anyone being allergic to hips.
As jss suggested I would wear rubber gloves when handling them.

Cine there are many, many plants that can cause an allergic reaction and yes, rose hips also. Please take a look at this site for more info.

Try "fermenting" them in a dish of water for a day or two like you would do with tomato seeds. The outer covering should soften up enough to allow it to be removed to access the hips within. Many species of plants need to be "digested" in order to be able to be viable. Rose hips aren't one of them, but a bit of that treatment won't hurt them.
