Yes, I grew it from seed and the seed was about 5 years old.
I didn't keep records and my memory isn't as good as it used to be, but I think it bloomed within a few months of sowing it. The eggs came later and started out pretty slow. But I had my first mature egg by late August.
It didn't get to set seed before our first frost but I didn't start the seed until April. I brought it in to my growroom to see if I could get it to set seed and it has put out new growth.
I'm thinking it may be a tender perennial rather than an annual because of this.
