I have an old house, the problem started with a triped breaker. I resat it and I restored power to the light but not to the outlets. I need help. Where do I start?

You have an open circuit to the plugs.
You need to start at the plugs and trace the wiring back to the panel. Check all jct boxex and connections. If there was a bad connection somewhere an arc could have caused it to go open.

Or...reset the breaker again and be sure it is TOTALLY reset. (A hard reset)
