There isn't all that much info avail about either of these 2 peppers. However, their appearance, growing habit, growing climate,
described flavor and heat level appear to be very similar. Even the photos in Plantfiles seem to show the same pepper. And both are members of the capsicum chinense family.
The only difference I have found is that the Fatali originated somewhere in Africa. The Datil was supposedly brought from the Mediterrean area by Minorcans who immigrated to the St. Augustine, Fl area 300 years ago. Beyond that, they appear to be identical. Since I have only the hot Datil available to me, I'm unable to determine if there is a significant difference between the two.
Can anybody shed any light on what appears to be the same pepper with 2 different names?
