I searched the threads for jigsaw puzzles and decided "games" is the closest place to post this. If someone knows of a better category, let me know!

I'm interested in "trading" puzzles. Most cost around $12 to $20 full price, and it seems a pity to just do it once. I used to give them to a retirement home, but most of the ones I do are too difficult, they say!

So...is there any interest in this? I'm currently working on a VERY challenging one of the Mona Lisa that I'll be glad to trade with anyone who has one to trade when I'm finished, which will probably be in about a week.

Here it is...partially done...well, see the next frame, since I can't post a pic here.

We are "jiggers" too. And I understand what you are saying. Can't throw them away. Don't really want to do them again - at least not for a very long while (and some NEVER again!)

I love to do jigsaws! I generally donate ours a few times a year to the Senior Center or a nursing home near us.

Not so funny story- When I was about 6 my mom was doing a jigsaw late at night when she started to smell smoke. When she went to investigate she found my dad had fallen asleep watching TV in the bedroom and the TV had overheated and caught on fire. The whole wall behind the TV and up the ceiling was on fire. She hollered and woke up my dad, then ran for the fire extingusher. Dad ran into my room and grabbed me blankets and all and swapped in the hall with mom. Mom called the fire dept (which dad was cheif of at the time) and we went to the neighbor across the street.

The fire dept was volunteer, and I think our fire had one of the fastest response times ever! The back 2 bedrooms were pretty damamged, and there was soot everywhere. I still remember sitting on the floor in my bedroom with my mom with buckets all around us washing Barbies and Barbie clothes.

Anyway, the whole point of sharing that story was to tell you this: After the house was back to "normal", my dad went out and bought my mom over 100 jigsaw puzzles. He said he never wanted her to be without one again.

Mornin,

Love the story! :)
My best memories involve my grandmother and daughter.

I used to spend about 2 or 3 weeks with my paternal g'parents each summer and my g'mother always had a puzzle waiting!
She and I would work on it off and on the entire time. I don't remember her finding many pieces...I think she bought it for me and
just sat there with me to keep my busy! (They lived on a ranch!)

Now, my daugher and I love to do a real challenging puzzle. We talk "girl talk" the entire time. So much fun!!

I personally love Springbok puzzles...don't know if they are still made. Used to get them at Hallmark stores. The pieces seem the thickest
AND each piece that you fit...you KNOW it goes there. I don't like ones where a piece fits, but really it doesn't go there.
The Mona Lisa one I'm doing now is like that. Irritating!! :)

Thanks all for the links...I'm going there now!!!

I just went to the allstarpuzzles and could not get rid of an irritating little pop-up that was flashing and had an "urgent'" button!!!
Do you see that the entire time you are trying to do the puzzle? That would drive me crazy! Any hints as to how to get rid of it??
Thanks!!

I went to the second one (shockwave) and it said I needed to install a special shockwave something or other. My DH says NEVER to install things like this because my puter is loaded with all the stuff I should need.

They both looked good, but I need to find out how to deal with these roadblocks. :)

thanks...

I have a pop-up blocker, so it was stopped. Love the site, and told DH about it. He is already hooked.

My hubby has been playing with these to on line zig saws for 3 years...no problems..we do have a free pop up stopper..and it works.. I just up graded the shockwave place...no problems..They all seems to have to have special things to run the puzzles but..we do it. it is worth it..hehehe...By the way...I found these puzzles..in DG...hehehe...years ago...they were highly recommended, then.

Okay...so I need a new Pop-up blocker. My son is a computer scientist, so he should be able to help me next time he's here!
And...so the Shockwave upgrade is safe for my computer? I guess so, since
wantabe did it. I should be more brave!

I went to Tuesday Morning tonight and bought a new puzzle. They had about 30 to choose from...from 1.00 to about 10.00

Oh Nooooo...I love the challenging ones!!! And that one is historical/architectural...my favorite! If you want the Mona Lisa one when I'm finished, just d-mail me your address and I'll mail it. But it might take me about a month more to finish it...:)

And what fun, to have your DH work with you!!!! I've teasingly asked my DH to just find ONE PIECE and he just laughs! :)

Diana, thanks for the link the allstarpuzzles site! Those are so much fun!! I do better with the visual matching aspects of puzzles than with finding the right shape (I don't do a lot of puzzles, LOL), so I loved moving those square pieces around. And the photos that they chose made it pretty challenging even without "shaped" pieces. I'll be sharing this link around!

I workd through two puzzles while I was down in Tucson this winter helping out with my elderly folks, and while they've transitioned into assisted living in Minnesota, I'll be happy to mail these off to whoever would like them, in April when I go back to close down the house for sale.

d-mail me with an address...
