A very large Raccoon got in my bird feeder a few nights ago, and broke the entire limb off the tree it was anchored in. I finally got it replaced in spite of the nonstop rain.

Tonight, near dark, a couple of Bronzed Cowbirds showed up. In a few minutes, a male Cardinal came and told them they were not welcome. He stayed and kept eating long after dark.

He stays a long time, making sure they don't return.

I read that song birds don't eat after dark because like humans, they have impaired vision at night. This is very unusual.

If anyone happens to get hummingbirds at night please post a pic.

I know what you mean Green, I always thought that myself; so that makes this very interesting.

I think they can see with the infra-red light supplied by the security camera.
