Hi to all in loverly USA
This may not be the forum to ask, but I read were you say use coupon's when shopping, is this like discounts or bonus from your employee.
We don't have anything like this here, sometimes on back of shopping dockets we get a free coffee when you buy a meal etc:

Hi, Lilypily in Tasmania - A coupon is merely a printed certificate
that allows you a given amount off the price when you purchase
a product. It comes from the French word "coupe" meaning to cut -
and coupons are still sometimes cut out of newspapers and magazines,
but can also be printed on small pieces of paper.
Here is a sample of what they look like in the USA:
Thank-you for your reply, I checked the web, it looks like a form of advertising from different companies, but if you are on a budget every little helps, so do you give it to the cashier when you are doing shopping and they deduct it off each item. We certainly don't have that here in Oz. I suppose things like we don't tip here either you can but it is a few coin's in a glass jar on the counter and all waitresses share at the end of the night, again I think it comes down to wages, my daught is in the Aust Navy and when a American Ship came over she and some friends took some sailors out for dinner, and your guy's wanted to tip large amounts of money, Sarah said No not that much a couple of dollars in the jar will be fine, they said they felt bad not giving more, until they were told what there houurly rate was $17.00 / $20.00 Hour.
I hope I don't get into trouble as I think I may be gobbing a bit to much, in the clean and clutter forum
Bye for now
Lilypily
Lilypily, you can talk all you want to :o)
When you go to the store, the cashier rings up all your purchases,
then deducts the amounts off from each coupon, then rings up the
total amount due.
Those who wait on tables here are tipped individually, then the waiter
shares a certain amount of their tips with the busboy (the person who
cleans off and sets up the tables with napkins and new silverware, etc.)
who is assigned to their area. If there is only a community jar for tips,
that wouldn't be fair to those who really hustle and do an outstanding job.
What incentive is there for them to work harder than the lazy sot who
just does the bare minimum yet benefits to the same degree?
A few places do have a community tip jar, but you hardly ever see that
done here. Hope that clears it up for you. Have a lovely day.
Hi: Nothing to do with coupons or tips, but my hus. visited your country while he was in the Navy. He said it was beautiful. Brought me back a black opal necklace. Guess y'all are getting ready for fall and winter. We are having some really cold weather right now. Only in 30's during day and 20's and teens during night. We had warm weather up until about the middle of Jan. and I have a lot of spring stuff coming up, like poppies and bachelor buttons and daylilies. This Wed. night we may get some snow. Would rather have rain, but then we take what we can get.
Are the fires still burning? Saw about them on TV and then it seemed to go away. California which is on the west coast of USA gets a lot of them. Burned Susan Summers house down. Don't know if you know her or not. She is an actress. Good gardening. LIZ
Hi to all, Hope all are having a great day, Liz we are still having fires we had rain afew few days ago all across Oz which did help, also had fire fighters from the USA and Canada to help, big problem though in some states we have droughts at present, it is heart wrenching seeing people loose their homes, the worst of it is some were lit by idiots I was going to call them worse (but better keep this clean). We are in the middle of our summer and I put my electric blanket on last night, little chilly. I have a loverly Rose Garden I started 2 years ago, and have terrible trouble this year with Black Spot & Mildew, I put it down to weather, I am going to cut them all back to get rid of it (sadly). Liz you must be spoilt to get a black opal??my husband and I hope in a couple of years to go to Cooper Pedy a town in South Aust (which mines opals) for a holiday, and try our luck in finding a opal you can stake (rent) a small piece of ground and hope for the best, you live in the most beautiful under ground homes, as it is very hot there. We also have a dream to head to the States for a white Christmas, Americans seem to embrace Christmas with all it has. I was informed yesterday that I am going to be a grandmother our daughter married Sept 2006, I went to the chemist 2 hrs later couldn't help myself bought bib's you name it I got it. I know bad move, I am on the look-out now for someone that knits as I would love some hand knitted matinee jackets & shawls, something she will treasure, I am going to try to make a quilt, I watch an American show on how to quilt but it is so advanced I don't know what they are talking about. My dear monster-in-law sadly passed away (before you say thats mean she knew she was) worse than the movie, boy could she knit though, she was a pom we clashed as my parents are Irish she didn't like the Irish much, my farther-in-law magic man. Oh god you poor reaer's here I am gobbing on again, holding you all up from doing your work. Have a wonderful, safe day to all.
