I have PB in my home. As a Realtor, I had 3 companies come and give me their take on my make, manifold, and overall experience with PB. In one conversation I was told, "Robin, I have nothing to gain from this, but if I saw that this house had the Vanguard system, I'd buy it myself."
I'd like to know from you contractors and those with other experience with this type of plumbing what you think. It would help me personally and also help me and others when looking at homes with PB plumbing. I did much research on it at [HYPERLINK@www.pbpipe.com] and also at Vanguard's website. I found that the Vanguard system was superior to other PB systems and one that experiences the least problem. I, so far in the 4 years I've lived in this home, have had no problem whatsoever. I also have info from the company that originally installed my system for the builder.
What's your experience? |

Vanguard is not poly butylene. It is Poly Ethylene Cross-Linked, or PEX. This is an important distinction, but aside from that, PEX pipe (properly installed), is a very good quality plumbing system. There are many different brands, and if you ask five different plumbers, you will probably get five different answers as to which one is the best. The bottom line is the quality of the installation. |

Texasmaster, thank you so much for your input. As a Realtor this is crutial information I relay to others in my area as well as when I sell my home or sell a home that has PEX.
Is there a link or somewhere I can go to gather further information to collect as a resourse (not only for myself, but for clients?)
By the way, the company that installed it is quite reputable and was one of the companies I had come out to inspect my home before I purchased it. No leaks or problems thus far. :-)

Thank you again! I found those sites to be very informative. I converted 2 of the sites pages to .PDF for future reference. The pexsupply website was too elaborate to convert but I certainly saved the link.
Personally, I feel more comfortable knowing I have PEX and hope it will help with future buyers on homes with this same system.

The Stadium in Denver that the Broncos play in is an open air stadium with natural grass. They can get this grass to grow in a place that is freezing cold (I've been there. It's cold), by running approximately 199,000 linear feet of wirsbo aquapex under ground and running hot water through it. This is not an installation where it is okay to have a leak. Pex is good stuff. I like wirsbo. |

I personally like Rehau systems for PEX (mainly because of everlok), wirsbo is a-1 too though. |
