Potentially, certainly. The bulb socket and housing aren't made to take the heat of a 100 watt bulb. Sooner or later it could fail, maybe starting a fire.
If you look at old fixtures where people have been doing this, they're brown and almost burnt. I'd get another ceiling fixture. Even 100 watts isn't much, say for a kitchen.
