It's getting time to start getting excited, Spring is just around the corner. So I'll host a photo contest. Post your best photo's of your Datura. The winner will receive 8 notecards with their photo on the front with envelopes.

The contest will run starting today, February 13 through Saturday February 17 and the voting will be on Sunday the 18. Only 1 entry per person. The contest is limited to subscribers.

Here is one of my favorites from last year. The very last blooms I got for 2006 taken in October. Obviously it's not part of the contest.

I love the whites .. I think they are the most dramatic against the dark leaves. When I had double whites in the front, people were knocking on my door!

My purples did too. It seems the hotter it got more variations showed. The purple I have above was deep purple and white but it got more redish and speckled in the heat.

Was that coloring stable in all blooms? Or just in the heat?

All of the blooms were variations on the one pictured, form and color with 2 separate plants. Some were more speckled than others. It's an F-2 generation. I'm planting more seeds to see what F-3 does.
