Hi Evoryone, I have a recipe for cranberry bread. It calls for 1 cup of milk with a teaspoon of rosewater added. Can enybody tell me what rosewater is, and where I can get some. Thanks Audrey

My mom used to use rosewater in her icing when she decorated wedding cakes. If I remember correctly, she just got it at the drugstore. That was years ago though.

It's in the drugstore. It's either in water or glycerine sold as a topical product. I say leave it out. I doubt that either form would survive baking. Icing is usually not cooked, so it might add fragrance there, but in baking it would disappear. Walgreen's carries it.

Vitamin Cottage and other health food stores also carry rosewater. I agree with Andidandi that it is way too fragile a fragrance to use for cooking. I often spritz it on pillows but it fades in less than a minute.

Rosewater is commonly used in Middle Eastern cooking. If you have an international grocery or even an Asian market you will be able to find it.

Thanks evoryone, I made the bread without the rosewater. It came out just fine. Thanks again, Audrey
