anybody getting out of it completely? got any memory cards with the numbers under 100 that I could purchase at used prices?

I have a 9000 but rarely get to use it of late except for mending...now that's a shame..had thought of upgrading as well, but that would be silly... four of my friends have same so what we do is make up a wish list (especially for the embroidery cards) and when someone is willing to spend the $$$ we purchase from that list and all share..that way we cut the cost by 1/4..see if there is a sewing group in your area or ask the fabric store if you can post and perhaps you can find someone as well who will trade with you on a regular basis...

I bought a memory card from e-bay for the Janome 9000. Then I found out the machine that I inherited from my mother is an 8000. I would like to sell the card if anyone is interested. It is a farm animal card and it was used but in good condition.

Wow I can't believe this thread. I am going to be getting aJanome 8000 from a friend in Dec. and I was worried that I might not beable to find cards for it. They talk about a magic box that you can use to download from the internet for this machine. Does anyone have one and knows how it works. I would be very interested in that.

For some reason, this didn't come up on my thread watched list. I'd look to ebay first, you can look through the janome sewing machines and see if any of them are repair men /repair shops. which alot of them are. Email them and ask if they sell the parts. This is probably your best bet for machines that aren't made any more.

I'm hoping to get the magic box max as soon as work picks up for my husband. Those scanners are for the birds. for one thing you can only scan something no bigger than 2 inches or so. and each color has to be scanned seperately. It's a pain in the but, I have one for my 8000 which I never use.

But the money's on those magic boxes. Those things are too cool. There is endless possibilities with those things LOL

i've given my 8000 to my daughter, and moved up to the 9000 so I could still use the 8000 cards. Which cards to you still have? I have all the other stuff that goes with it.

though you should really try ebay for an 8000 that's the only place you'll find one, as they don't make them any more. there are alot of sewing machine dealers that sell used machines on ebay, and they are for the most part very trustworthy, I bought my 9000 there, and going to buy another new home sewing machine there soon,

I never did get the magic box, and hven't touched my 9000 since last christmas, i'd hav eto learn how to use the thing all over again, but that won't take me long LOL I sew for a living and always doing alterations and messing int he greenhouse and hve no time for the embroidery machine unless i'm doing christmas presents or something like that.

Amagic box is a box that takes embroidery patterns from Jef files & other type files. and converts them to cd form I think the n to memory cards that you stick into your machine . This isn't the whole story but that's the jist of it. You have to buy the memory cards that can copy the embroidery patterns but you can get them at the same place you can the magic box. with this box, patterns are endless LOL

You can find them on ebay.

I bought a MC9000 to see if I liked embroidery but find it is not my thing. I am thinking of giving the machine to my daughter for the basic sewing. But may even may sell it and buy her something basic. I have a bunch of cards to sell,I know my daughter won't use them. I am open to offers. I may also have some feet for sale as I have a few dozen that I am not using with the machine.

You can only use the coats and clark thread when doing regular sewing, it will constantly break during usage while embroidering, and so will CHEAP embroidery thread, do yourself a big favor, (I learned from experience on buying cheap embroidery thread off ebay) Don't do it. buy the good stuff, you can get the good embroidery thread l00% rayon off ebay, but becareful, there is l00% rayon thread on ebay and it's also cheaply made and will break during usage also.

It's a good machine Betty, but it's going to be hard to find, cause janome doens't make them any more, you'll be looking for a used machine at places that sew machines, Check ebay, I bought my 9000 there and it's wonderful. Just check make sure they have good feedback, and ask if they are dealers, cause it's best to purchase from a dealer than an individual. You may get a better deal from an individual than a dealer, but you know your machine is in good working order if it comes from a dealer.

He says this machine has been serviced and works like new. It comes with lots of extras. I worry about the 8000 being that it is so old. I thought it would be fun to embroidery some things on doll clothes. Im paying $350.00 for it and that includes the shipping. Do you think that is a good deal? Thanks so much...Betty

I bought a Janome Memory Craft 8000 recently and need a new foot pedal. Does anyone here have an extra to sell or know of where I could purchase one? I have looked briefly on the internet, but don't find parts/pieces readily available.

Thanks for any information and I can be reached here or at themrs.h@cox.net.

If it were me that needed one, I'd get on ebay and look for the dealers that are selling machines, and start off by looking for the janome 8000 ask if their dealers and ask about getting another foot for your machine.

That's where i'd start at.

good luck, that's going to be tough.

you could do a search on google for foot petal for janome 8000 memory craft machine and see what comes up too, dealers may pop up on the search and give you something to go with.

There are tons of 8000 cards on ebay also. which is about the only place you'll find the cards for 8000 and 9000 since their both obsolete machines. I get alot of 9000 cards off ebay. I think the 8000 the number of cards goes up to l00 and the 9000 cards start at l00 and go up from there, so there are alot of memory cards out there. I have a couple of doubles, I'll have to check to see which ones I have two of, I think there's alady above here somewhere that advertised she had some for sale also

Thanks BettyandPhil. I believe that is one of the cards I already have. These are the ones I know she had 1,2,3,6,9,10,16, and 17 that I inherited with the machine. Do all of the cards come with the plastic templates or are there only some cards with the templates.

If they all should have templates I will have to have someone look for the rest of the little templates. How should I know if there are templates with a card? I know the embroidery foot/hoop is missing and I will be asking the family to look for it.

Hi, this is my first post. A used Janome mc 8000 just showed up at my local shop for two hundred and fifty with one year warrenty...is this a good deal? It's soo old but as far as I can tell people really like it.
Will this take brother cards as well? I really like the disney designs but I hear the brother machines are garbage...can I get Disney or Nickolodian designs online? Also can I embroider whole words with ease?

I'm also looking at a Viking rose used for 899...YIKES! I like the Baby Lock Esante but I can't find one anywhere online and fear their pricey.

Any advice will be helpful my head is spinning sooo many choices

Not sure if it's a good deal or not. WE've decided to sell my 8000 It will be about the same price as the one you want. With lots of extras though. (it's too difficult for my daughter to sew on) she wants an ordinary sewing machine. Their easy to come by, those 8000, and no they don't take any other sewing machine cards but janome 8000 cards, the memory cards that are numbered UNDer 100 are the ones that 8000 takes. Is why I went to the 9000 janome it takes all the 8000 machine cards and all janome cards above l00 in numbers. and it will take a few other memory cards I've gotten off ebay . Good luck to you.

Allsgo - did you find out what format the MC 8000 uses?

Did anyone get a magic box and want to share how they like or dislike it?

Also, I believe I read somewhere that the largest design I can do on the MC 8000 is 4X4 - is this correct? I'm interested in using more current designs than what is available on the Memory Cards, so I guess that means getting a magic box and purchasing some new digitized files. Any better ideas?

Thanks all. This thread has been a big help.

I never did get the magic box. Probably a good thing though, I went to work at an athletic store and do all their embroidery now and I have unlimited use of about 20,000 designs , it would have been a huge waste of money for me to buy that magic box back when I wanted it. I rarely even use my own embroidery machine any more.

your right on the size I'm pretty sure that's the biggest size you can do.

I use to know what format the 8000 used, but have forgotten since then. I'm sorry I can't answer that one for you.

I'd love to know if folks have purchased that magic box also. That sounds like the neatest invention.

Sounds like a great job to have!

Since this is my first embroidery machine and I'm a total beginner, 4X4 will have to do. If I really get into it, I will certainly be looking to upgrade.

I'm just really curious about how the whole magic box thing works. Thanks for the reply!!
