| I get catalogs from over 20 different companies, and re-read them all for the lovely photos and the information about each cultivar. Like others, I build fantasy gardens while the snow swirls outside. I have way too many seeds to start already, but I did order a few packets from Pinetree - my favorite for seeds.
If I had unlimited funds, I would order from Burpee (the BEST photos!) and Bluestone Perennials (I even kept their last-year's catalog because I like the way they present the information on each plant) and about half a dozen others.
I just got a lovely Dutch Bulbs catalog this week - Wow, I'll take some of each for that fantasy garden! |

| After the holidays over and the days are so dreary with the skys so gray and snow piled 2 feet high and the knowledge that this is what is going to be for the next 3-4 months, I gotta say those seed catalogs are mind saving. As a few of you have said, there is not enough room for all of the plants I want to grow.
I love it when my mailbox is bulging with seed catalogs. And I do buy.

| What's funny is that I only shop on line as well!!! I like to have the catalogs and place my order based on what I see in them. Sometimes I get a special web-only offer.
As a former ad person, those of us who get tons of catalogs are what the industry calls "Print Responsive" so our names get sold to other direct-marketers. My record is 30 catalogs in one day (during the Christmas season). I am also one of the few dummies that goes out of their way to request catalogs! (it's OK-- I recycle!!) |

| I don't have 50 but I have several dozen. I keep them in a pile beside my desk (so I can order on the computer) and read, and re-read each of them. Even if they are companies I don't order from, I still order their catalogs in case I find ideas and then I'll just buy the stuff somewhere else. I even kept my last year catalogs in case I have a question from this year's catalogs. If I see a company mentioned in DG that someone mentions in a forum, I like to sign up for those catalogs too. I don't like to PAY for catalogs, I only did it once and I won't say which one (it truly was a lovely catalog) because I can just as easily buy their products on line.

| This is my first year to think about gardening much, my husband has been doing all of it and loving it--but he is getting less and less able to move around, so I want to help. I ordered some catalogs from companies online and when they started coming in I got a little carried away and ordered stuff--not a lot. Now my husband thinks I should not be looking at the catalogs, that I will order a bunch of stuff we can't use. The first year we moved to Ohio I ordered some bulbs from Michigan Bulb and none of them did much of anything. He would rather go to the local gardening stores and buy, but their selections are sort of limited. So I keep my fantasies in control and just look without the credit card in my hand. |

| I've been ordering from Pinetree for several years now- slightly smaller packets, so reasonable price and shipping. Love Johnny's and Territorial Seeds cats, but more pricey. I'll keep them for the cultural info. Keeping Parks and T and M for pics. That's enough for me. I really prefer if the cat lists the latin name not just a common name.
Only ordered from Pinetree and online at Valuseeds this year. So far! |

| I have received a few catalogs this season but voted that I mostly shop online which is true. Some websites have a ton of pictures so I waste my time in the front of my laptop drooling over them instead of reading catalogs. But also instead of catalogs I subscribe to a few gardening magazines and read those over and over and even have a binder where I collect the best articles and pictures I like. Sometimes it makes about half the magazine, so my binder is getting filled up quick!! Pages from catalogs go in there too along with company information for the future references. I also keep an Excel spreadsheet with a plant picture, name and description as my wish list. The moment I find a plant I'd like to have - it gets added to my spreadsheet and when I have time I surf Internet and catalogs for those plants on my wish list!! It's a bit crazy - but what the hell, it works fo me! Especially I like going over my list with pictures and dreaming up my next flowerbed... Ahhh.. If I only had more space in my garden!!
And I have to confess - I am guilty of ordering a ton of seeds (I started early...), I think a bit more than I can handle..he-hee... :)

I am shopping for seeds in my seed box! There's a lot (of seeds) in there I never new I had!
It's part of my ongoing "sorting out and purging clutter" plan that I picked up from the 'Flylady' discussion on how to get organized. Here's the site link [HYPERLINK@www.flylady.net] if you're interested.
I have cancelled many of my catalogs (to save paper and GO GREEN) but I do miss them! 'Shopping' on web sites is not quite the same thing as cuddling up by the fire with a glass of chardonnay and a good stack of seed catalogs dreaming about spring! |

| How many I get depends on what you count. I keep seed/nursery catalogs from about 30 different places (not counting the ones I automatically trash, like Spring Hill). But then there are places like Wayside Gardens that waste their money sending the same expensive catalog every month, just with a new cover. I read most catalogs cover to cover, then compare prices, sizes, etc., if I want something. Yes, I too use a spreadsheet sometimes. Most orders are placed on line. Occasionally I order online from somebody that has never sent me a catalog--that ALWAYS means I will get catalogs from them ever after. Then there are the garden supply catalogs, etc., etc. |

| I get tons of catalogs. I didn't count, but I feel certain there are 50 or more. I buy seeds and plants over the internet or by catalog and as a result I am on everybody's mailing list. Many of them I have never purchased anything from but the keep sending them year after year. I don't really mind, though. Every January or so I throw away all the previous year's catalogs, except the iris ones and wait for the next year's batch.
Even when ordering on line, it is handy to have the catalog in hand for helping to fill out on line forms, for comparing one plant to another, etc. etc.
I really enjoy some of the catalogs -- others, not so much. |

I've been trying to save a lot of my own seeds (though I had to fill in a couple of things --- ordered from Heirloom Seeds online). | I am definitely "Print Responsive". I love getting the catalogs - some have excellent growing tips and/or plant descriptions. Also, depending on where the growers are, there is sometimes different info in different catalogs. And even catalogs from places I know I will never buy from get a look-over -- maybe they are advertising a cultivar that I just HAVE to have -- then I can go on line and see if my favorite places are carrying them. Ultimately, I place the order on line -- but for winter fire-side reading, seed/plant/garden catalogs can't be beat. When my kids were little, they would bring the catalogs to school to make collages and such with. They were always a big hit... but attn catalog distributors -- by Feb my seed orders are all placed, so those who don't get them to me before then loose out on possibly getting my buck or 50 :-) |

| OK, the question says 'seed' catalogs and I took that literally, so I think I said a dozen. If I add in all the plant, bulb and garden catalogs, I probably have well over 50 different ones, and get at least 20 a week, but most are repeats. I do all of my shopping online, but that doesn't stop the print catalogs from coming.
Probably 2/3 of what comes in the mail are places I wouldn't order from. A lot of the places I order from either don't have print catalogs or charge for them. So I just work from the web site.
My favorites for ordering? For plants Bluestone Perennials, Garden Crossings, Wrightman Alpines, Hazzard's Greenhouse. For seeds: Parks (veggies), T's Flowers and Things, seedman.com
My absolutely fav catalog? Logee's. I go thru it over & over. Haven't ordered yet, but I will when it warms up a bit. They have an excellent reputation, so I know I won't be disappointed.
