In my country home, I am planning to pull up my carpets (from the previous threads, it can't be too soon!)and install wide plank random width flooring, possibly pine.I plan to use the old looking square nails.

Has anyone dealt with a particular company and have they been satisfied?
Does anyone have hardwood in the kitchen? If so, anyproblems with water damage?
Is there any advantage of the engineered wood floors? I am finding them even more expensive.

I just love the look. But I want to find out info before and not after!
Thank you.

I've dealt with Kellogg Hardwood Lumber, a company in Connecticut, that specializes in making hardwood wide plank floors. They do really nice work. Their website is [HYPERLINK@www.kellogghardwoods.com]

Good luck with your project!

Thank you so much. I appreciate your information. I have not finished this project yet. I will give them a call.

If anyone else has done business with any other companies for wide plank flooring, please let me know.

Good luck with your project. I have had wood floors in kitchens, and I love the look. Just make sure to get a really hard wood that will withstand the wear, and get it really well sealed to keep water damage down. Birch is very hard, and there is a species called hard maple. (I think this is what you see in fancy art galleries a lot!).
