We need to plant a "hedge" row on the North West side of our property. I need something that grows really fast, is evergreen and can withstand freezing winter winds. Does anyone have any suggestions? We are in zone 5a.

I too am in zone 5 and am needing to plant along northwest of my house. Am tired of being hit with those cold north winds as well as tired of the sight of a McDonalds. I am looking into getting some Canadian Hemlocks. Don't know if it would be something you'd be interested in or not...Just a thought...
