Help, I have a very valuable inlayed dining room table we inherited from the inlaws. They were the type of folks who never used their good pieces and it was in excellent condition.
Last evening we had guests and someone moved a vase of flowers spilling some water on the bare wood. We thought we cleaned it up and dried it well but this morning when I moved the vase I noticed a bit of dampness must have infiltrated the seam between 2 of the inlays. Unfortunately it occurred where there is a point of the diamond shaped inlay. It must have been only a small amount of moisture as there is no damage to the finish but I am afraid the seam may show damage and possibly raise up when it dries.
Right now I have some paper toweling on it to absorb any more dampness and it is weighted down with an antique flat iron. I'll change the towels often.
Any ideas? TIA

This a great source for information on repairs of all kinds including veneer/inlaid pieces.

I have had sucess using toothpaste and mayonaise to remove stains on wood furniture and have managed fair sucess fixing a lifted seam on a veneer by using the instructions on the site above.
