I purchased Hosta bulbs, and decided to try to grow them in the greenhouse.
Last year I started Calla lilies and daylilies, the Calla's did awesome, so I thought I would try hostas.
Anyone have any suggestions? Think they will do good?
I am not too sure about Hostas in your greenhouse, they like dapple shade and damp but well drained soil, I have to grow mine in pots due to our huge variety of slugs and snails, but I have to constantly water them, I guess if you do try the greenhouse, you will soon notice if it is too warm and can always get them outdoors quickly, I would keep them well shaded in the greenhouse as too much sun will just fry the lovely leaves you want to admire, the flowers are nice, but hardly noticed on most Hostas, they are usualy grown for the greenery.
Good luck.
Guess what? The hostas grew in the greenhouse and look amazing!
They grew really fast, in 2 weeks they had there leaves open.
I put them in the middle away from the window, I also have a fan that mists in the greenhouse so I placed them by the fan.
I'll have to do more next year.
