Douglas fir is both big and beautiful; very handsome by anyone's standard an evergreen.
The Douglas-fir is one of the largest of Canada's conifers. It grows from 60 to 100 metres high. Its bark can be up to 30 cm thick. And it can live for up to 1000 years.

Needles: About 1" long with a blunt tip. Needles are green above with 2 white bands underneath.
Fruit: Woody cones 3 to 4 inches long; pitchfork-shaped bracts are longer than scales. Cones hang down.
