My husband built a new top for his desk from oak-veneered plywood. He would like the finish to be clear (no stain) and dry very hard. He wants to apply the finish inside (to keep the bugs out of it), but I am an invalid & very sensitive to chemicals. Does anyone know what type of finish would be least toxic and still dry very hard? Thanks!!! Stephanie
Finding a finish that's low-VOC is going to be your best bet, although honestly I would tell your hubby to find somewhere else to do this (how about the garage? basement?), even stuff that's low VOC isn't guaranteed that it won't cause problems for you, the best thing is to do it somewhere that you can avoid being around it.
if your very sensitive to chemicals, this should not be done indoors, even finishes with low VOC are going to be too much for you,i've been painting for nearly 20 yrs, and i've used products with low voc, they still have an odor, and a small amount of chemical release
