All day long I listened to beautiful calls that I was unfamiliar with, and all I could see in that area were the blasted Blackbirds. When he finally allowed me to see him, I was surprised to see he looked like an over grown Blackbird, but had a much longer tail. It finally occurred to me it must be a Grackle, even though they're not supposed to be here. I went on line, and listened to the Common Grackles call. Nope! It's a Great Tailed Grackle.
I'm certain this is the bird I couldn't ID last year. They sure are nice to listen to.
I'd be happy to do that, if I knew who/how to contact. I will contact the Ranger Station, but the "birdman" there will be skeptical until I can send photos. I did get images, but until I get the new PC (it's already late!) I can't view or send.
One distribution map (whatbird) does show them as breeding in the this area.
