I am very new to crochet. My grandmother used to edge flour-sack dishtowels and flannel baby blankets with very simple, colorful edgings. The flour-sack towels were always edged in red. The edging was attached directly to the fabric, not sewn on after.
Can anyone offer suggestions as to how I can do this or where I could find directions? thanks, sam
My Mom used to crochet edgings on pillow cases and towels. I think that she would work the crochet hook right thru the material-carefully so as not to damage the cloth, between the fibers/threads. Kind of nudging them aside. You would have to make sure the spacing was consistant. Using a tiny hook. Some of the pillowcases already had an edging on them to eliminate this step and one could go directly to the crocheting part from there.
