My bathroom tiles are old and stained a horrible light brown colour and I have tried using bleach to clean them without much success, can someone please help me.

Do you have a picture? Honestly if bleach won't clean them I'm not sure much will. How strong of a concentration of bleach were you using? If you diluted it too much then it may not have enough bleach left to really take the stains out. But if you were using something like Tilex straight out of the bottle that should do it. Let it set for a few minutes before you scrub or rinse it off, if you spray it on and wipe/rinse it off right away it doesn't have time to work. Also, if it's rust stains that are making it brown you might also try CLR or some product like that for getting rid of rust, that might work better than bleach. The other thing to try is Mr. Clean Magic Eraser, that'll get down into little tiny crevices and get out stains better than a lot of things I've seen. If none of those approaches work, then I think refinishing the tile is probably your best bet.

Bite the bullet and call in a pro to reglaze your tiles. You can have this done fairly inexpensively.

In a previous home, we had bad water and everything was dark brown..started to use "iron out" which can be purchased at most hardwares...cleans every marking..I even added a 1/2 tsp. to white wash to bring whiteness back..
