This evening I was in the dark on the patio and was just about finished watering the plants (as I often do after dusk).

I got to one of my ferns in a container on the ground; when I watered it, the fern lit up! I was taken aback at first, but I finally reached out and shook the fern a bit. It happened again. Upon closer inspection, I found an innocent little lightning bug. :)

And that was the most pleasant surprise of my day!
