    It looks like Soldier Beetle- Cantharis fusca.

    It seems to be a good beetle, the larvae eat snails and the adults eat insects.

    The wikipedia says apart from th head and thorax it is completely black, I think they forgot to mention the orange abdomen/body section.

    It was under the edge of a plant I have next to an orange gas bottle! It must be looking for a mate...
