My Purple Ballerina is truly beautiful. I've never grown them before and never knew what I was missing. I also grew a few more from seed this season.

Looks like I'm going to have a lot more. Do they bloom all summer? I have read to encourage blooming you must cut off the "thorn apples." Is this correct?

Beautiful!!!! and welcome to the addiction!

Once the flowers have finished, cut them off. Wait until August or September to let the plant set seeds. Since you don't have freezing weather it's ok to wait that late .. for everone else who gets freezes, start in July.

I don't plan on saving the seeds as children do run around and I don't want to chance a poisonong. I cut the seed pods off as they develop. Will I have more flowers by doing this as the plant won't waste energy making seed? Thanks for any info...

Cut off the flower as soon as it finishes blooming and yes, the plant will look better and be healthier longer if you don't let it make seeds.

You are aware that all parts of datura are poisonous. Don't let the kids pick or handle the flowers or leaves and you should wash your hands after handling datura.

Beautiful daturas, what grand blossoms you're getting!!! My young plants just started flowering, and suddenly something is chewing off the leaves, and something else is making pinholes over all the remaining leaves, so I don't know if I'll be seeing any more blooms :( I'll have to just enjoy yours instead!

I don't have any problems with insects so far but strange you mention "pinholes" as my blackberry bushes are on the opposite side of my home and one of them "Anne" to be exact, has that problem but not the other varieties? Looks like spider mite or beetles. I'll spray tonight. Meanwhile I'll have more pictures as my plants are doing very well.
