I am in North Texas right on the boundary of 7b and 8a. I am trying to find a green JM that will withstand some sun - at least for a few years. When we moved in we had two very ugly pine trees removed. I have replaced them with a Chinquapin Oak and Live Oak. Needless to say, even the Chinquapin is a few years away from providing any measurable shade. There is a 10-12 ft crape myrtle that provides a little bit of shade (weak) to the chosen site in later afternoon. I left a beautiful Bloodgood at my last house near Tulsa and I know it would not fare well in the spot I've chosen but, then again, I've decided to go green anyway. I'm looking for fairly good grower to about 15 ft, give or take a ft or two. Any suggestions?
