I just purchased a solid surface vanity top. What do I seal it with so it will not get stains? Such as, I use oil to clean my face. If there is some on the bottom of the bottle when I set it down I don't want a ring left. The company person just says to use gel-glass on it to shine it. Will that seal it? Will this product darken to the color I thought I was buying?
The mfg. email address on their info sheet does not work.
You shouldn't have to seal solid surface, I'm not even sure that there is anything you can seal it with (and I'm sure if there was something, they would have more than happy to sell it to you!). I've used the gel gloss stuff on a cultured marble vanity and never noticed that it darkened the color, but if you're not sure test it in a little small corner somewhere first.
Very good idea Ecrane. My BIL said he uses that on showers he installs so they don't get the build up of the chemicals etc. and also on his boat he uses it. Says the water just beads up on them.
NO, not Mayo, Jeanette. I use any spray like Favor, Pledge, etc. but maybe the stuff you talked about is better and lasts longer. In the meantime cream your face someplace else until you get the finish you want on the vanity. I've never heard of the gel stuff. What is the actual name of the product?
This is the brand I used--I found it at a local home center, but you can get it online from this website and probably some others as well.

I don't think it'll really change the natural finish, if your surface is supposed to be shiny then it'll still be shiny, but if it's more matte I don't think using this will make it much shinier. My vanities were polished cultured marble so I don't know for sure what it would do on a more matte finish.
No, this is a much more matte than the cultured marble. I don't think I'll try it. I might though just on a place like the back where it won't show. Thanks, Jeanette
