Hi out there!
I'm in the final stages of choosing a floor covering for a smallish remodel. My house is on a slab foundation (typical Arizona).
I just found this wonderful look, new product today at Great Indoors (a Sears company) I LOVE the look in general, the concept (VERY small grout, rectangular shaped tiles, Porcelain, very contemporary). Ideally its installed in a staggered look. A little more per SF than I'd hoped at $8.37-$9.99 sq ft (Great Indoors is offering 25% off through the 23rd of June as I remember). So I'm hoping to make a decision.
Does ANYONE have anything to say based on a personal experience with this specific product?
Thanks in advance and good fortune to all who tackle a remodel!
Susie
Hi Aguane! My basement flooded, long story short I headed over here to check out the look of some new flooring, since the carpet may be history. Really like the look of these rectangular tiles. Is slab the same as concrete? What did you end up doing?
Hi PrairieGirlZ5
Sorry to hear your basement flooded, I know how that can be.
First I'd be really thoughtful about what product you put down to replace the carpet. What do you want to do with that basement space?
Off hand I'd say if it tends to flood I wouldn't put any product down that will deteriorate in a flood.
My flooring will probably not experience a flood.
The Porcelanosa is just gorgeous. Lots of really interesing choices. But I"m told that the large rectangular shaped tiles are more expensive to lay (another $1 per s/f AND they require more "mud", more cushion because they are so large and that will prevent cracking. I decided against that product, much as I admire it. I chose a 20x20 tile that looks like a concrete flooring, still contemporary and I love it $5.18 sq/ft
Good luck to you and be sure to consider all the great options you have.
Aguane, I paid $1.25/sq ft for my floating wood floor with the glue included. Now I remember why I chose it over the $1.89 carpet. Absolutely incredible price ... I'm floored.
Thanks Aguane! We are now looking at cork flooring, or rubbery linoleum sheets. Of course, the pocketbook will win this argument. We might even end up just re-padding the room (we ripped out padding with previous flooding), and having it professionally dry-cleaned, as it doesn't appear to have any mold and is expensive, thick berber. My husband finally fixed the disconnected gutter that he says caused the flooding. He had to crawl under the deck commando-style. Not an easy fix for an old man, he he. This has been an interesting experience, I didn't know there were so many flooring choices available.
