Hi, We have our well pump located behind the closet that is under our stairs. This time of year since it's so hot it gets that gross mildewy damp smell. I can't even keep anything of worth in the coat closet because it gets mildew/mold on it. Any suggestions on how to get rid of the smell?

ok...one 'easy', one more difficult...

You can buy the de-humidifier crystals they sell for garages & basements & stash some in there - or buy a powered dehumidifier if there's space (and a plug) for it - just don't forget to empty the catch basin on a regular basis or it can overflow & get your floor all wet.

OR...more difficult...you could possibly install a bathroom vent type fan to vent the heat & moisture outside. We have one set up in a room where we have a lot of computers & other electrical equipment and have it attached to a thermostat so that it comes on automatically above a certain temperature. This is easier once done because you don't have to monitor it like dehumidifiers, but much more of a pain to do in the first place - although if the closet is on an outside wall, it probably wouldn't be TOO hard - especially if you don't care if the fan shows, so you don't have to stash it inside the wall...
