Our bamboo floor is wavy at all the seams. We've never used water on it -- Does anyone live in a "more humid" area near water and have any idea what is happening? The humidity in our house measures a little high, but why would the floor swell at the seems because of it??
I don't know about bamboo, but this is true for real wood so maybe it's true for bamboo too. My guess is either the bamboo either wasn't acclimated to the room before it was installed, or there wasn't enough room left for expansion/contraction. I only know how to install floating floors not nail down ones and I don't know which type yours is, but with a floating floor you should leave a little gap at the outside of the room, the baseboards will cover this so you won't see it but it will allow for some expansion/contraction as humidity changes during the year. Given that you're in CA, even if you're near the ocean I don't think your humidity is nearly as high as if you were in FL or somewhere else in the South and they can have bamboo floors there, so it sounds to me like improper installation.
