I just finished tiling my patio...like a bonehead I did not factor the "slippery when wet" danger. Now I almost want to rip it because it is close to the pool. I have carpet runners down but if you step off watch out! Is there some type of clear coating that I could apply with a dusting of sand (non slip stuff) out there on the market that I could buy. I really don't care if it looks a little ugly at this point.

Please help!

I had a janitorial busines for 11 years and used a non skid finish for bathroom applications. It was a clear coat with no grit in it - just had non skid properties. The problem is when you start applying a finish like that - it has to be touched up and re-done from time to time. I would contact a commercial janitorial supply house and ask what products they carry and would recommend for outdoor use around a pool.

I have also seen outdoor applications where someone painted a walkway with epoxy paint and then sprinkled fine sand on it as they went along and before the paint started to set up. Not really sure why they sprinkled it on top instead of just mixing it in with the paint.

Try http://www.slipdoctors.com or Non Slip Treatments- Slip Doctors.com for the best solution. They sell a unique safe product that you can install that will treat your floor or tiles to make them non-slip forever. Fantasitc solution to my slippery tiles in my bathroom floor.

Next time - don't you just hate that phrase - maybe you can buy tile with lots of grit on the surface of the glaze. I purchased some for my bathroom many years ago and it almost looked like sandpaper with clear glaze over it. It's kind of high, but you'd only have to do it one time.
