I'm looking for a way to protect my green & sweet peppers from the wind. I just transplanted them last weekend but immeadiately noticed the wind was going to be a problem. They always look fine in the morning after being watered the previous night, but when I get home there are always a few missing leaves or leaning over. My husband tolf me just to build up some more dirt around the stems, but I'm not sure if that is sufficient.
I was thinking of using dowel rods and fishing wire, but I'm not sure how to rig it up. Any tips or suggestions?
HighCntryGrdner - I have staked my pepper plants up like I do my tomatoes... They have grown so tall this year, and were leaning, no matter what I did like trying to build up around the stems did not help. They seem to be doing great...
Dunno. Our street is like a wind tunnel and it's perpetually plowing the blossoms off our fruits and veggies. I just try to move it to shield it from the winds.
They aren't leaning anymore, so thats a sign that they are getting more accustomed to the weather. But a lot of the leaves that were all big and green are being ripped off. My tomatoes are out with just as much wind. They lost some leaves when i first transplanted them too. But all blooms are sticking fine. Hopefully my little pepper plants will just adjust.
