I have grown the Bubblegum Petunia for the past 2 years and most have done well. But last year I lost a few and this year have lost 3 so far. One day they look great and the next day they are dead or near death over the entire plant. I just now cut one back all the way to the ground instead of throwing it out. There are green stems on the plant and I am going to experiment and see if they leaf out again. I cut my Sky Blue Petunia in a hanging basket back 2 weeks ago where some of the leaves were turning brown and it is leafing out big time right now. Anyway the Bubblegum Petunia is watered the same as the other ones. Maybe there is a drainage problem and they are getting too much water. The potted ones are in Miracle Gro potting soil the same soil in the planter in which I will post a picture. These plants are not cheap--I think I paid 4-5 dollars for each one.
Has anyone grown the Bubblegum petunia and had the same experience? I have over watered petunias in the past and they just decline and do not bloom as much but they never die completely. I want to continue to have these beautiful petunias in my yard so please someone tell me what I am doing wrong. I am not seeing any insects on the plant or any of the roots being eaten away when I dig it up.
