I know it's a bit early to be thinking about fireplaces, but I'm redoing my living room and want to have a fireplace.
It would have to be VENTLESS. Either natural gas, or electric. Has anyone had any of these? If so, what are the pros and cons of each?
I think (could be wrong though) that the electric ones don't look quite as much like a real fire as the gas logs. Could be I just haven't seen the "good" electric ones. Do you have a fireplace showroom near you where you could go see some of each type in action?
There's one about 50mi from me in Amarillo. I'll be going there in a few days and am going to check them out.
I have been doing some online searching and have learned that the gas fireplaces burn a lot hotter than electric and do give off some carbon monoxide. So I would have to be careful of that. It will be installed on a oak hardwood floor also, so that too is a concern. I'll let you know what I find out.
