The toilet in our main bathroom appears to be having to add water periodically for some reason ... you can here it add water, this is happening without using the toilet...I am speculating that the toilet must be losing water ... but am unsure ...ANY THOUGHTS or Suggestions WELCOMED !!

PS ... there are no external leaks

Water is leaking from the tank to the bowl - try replacing the flapper valve at the bottom of the tank. They're just a few dollars, easy to do.

after you replace the flapper (buy a korky and cut out the ring in the middle, if your flush valve has ears, use the ring in the middle if it does not), fill up the tank and pour a bottle of red food coloring in the tank and wait fifteen minutes without flushing the commode. If the water in your bowl turns red then you also need to replace the flush valve which involves removing the tank and also replacing the tank to bowl kit.
