The grout on my ceramic floors has become stained. What can I use to clean the grout without a lot of scrubbing?

I usually spray it with a bleach cleaner (either Tilex or Clorox Clean-up), let it sit for a few minutes, then most of the stains are gone without having to scrub much at all. You could use just plain bleach too, but I've found that the cleaning ingredients that are in those products help get the dirt out better than just bleach and water would

I use 409 on the kitchen tile grout and it works well with little elbow grease.

Ok, this is going to sound weird, but I use SnoBowl toilet cleaner on my bathroom floor grout lines. It cleaned it better than any of the really expensive cleaners. Works for me. :)

Yes, I'm pretty sure SnoBowl has bleach. Pretty much any cleaning product that has bleach in it ought to work pretty well, I don't know that it really matters which one you use.

Bleach is great. Be real careful not to track it onto carpet tho.

Don't know if it would discolor it or not, but better safe than sorry.

I've used bleach in my toilet bowl, and then noticed all these little tiny white spots on my bathroom throw rugs. Took me a while to figure out where they were coming from. It was tiny little droplets that flicked off of the bristles of the toilet brush. (but this was bleach, and not bleach containing cleaners, so that might be different) Live and learn.

The bleach containing cleaners aren't as strong as straight bleach, but they will discolor things too. Some carpets are probably more resistant to bleaching than others, but no sense in taking chances!

When I was in the cleaning business, we used one cup of muriatic acid to a gallon of water and scrubbed with a stiff brush. Worked every time.
Be careful using muriatic acid, though. Ventilate the room. Leave windows open.
Use rubber gloves.

One cup of muriatic acid in a heavily stained toilet will make it look new after scrubbing with your toilet brush. Again, pour in full strength, then leave the room for five or ten minutes. Scrub when you return and flush. Repeat until bowl is completely white.

Carefully read all instructions on the jug of muriatic acid!!!!!!!!!!!!
Do not mix with bleach or other cleaners!!!

Doesn't it wear out really fast when you use it on your grout? I use it mostly on smoother surfaces because the rough ones really chew it up, I'd need like 50 of them to clean the grout just in my kitchen. And it leaves little bits of eraser stuff behind too when I use it on rough surfaces which I don't like.

My kitchen's not that big 11X11 I guess, our grout is pretty smooth so I don't have the problem of it falling apart too fast.

The best thing I have found to clean grout is Cascade dishwasher detergent. It doesn't have a strong odor and with just a little light scrubbing with a brush and the grout looks like new. Plus one big bottle can do a whole lot of grout so it's pretty cheap.

My mom used to use these blue things she got from the tile company that worked by abrasion but they's disintergrate super fast and cost a lot. She couldn't believe it when I showed her how well the Cascade works. I use it to clean a bunch of stuff, tea stains in the teapot, food stains on the kitchen sink, etc. It's great stuff.

Don't try the powdered stuff it doesn't work and makes a huge mess. For some reason the cheap liquid brands don't work as well either, cascade must have something in it that the others don't.
