We live on a reservoir and the water table goes up and down causing a high amount of erosion on our water-frontage. As we do not really own the land, it is owned by the water company, I was hesitant to sink money into a retaining wall on 'their' property.
I called them and asked if they had any riprap and if so I would place it on the bank for free. Well they are not so concerned about erosion in my area as the table level is low there and so they do not provide rock to place there.
So I asked if I could do that myself. He said that would be fine. So I talked to neighbours who had varying ideas and things they had done. Most were concrete or brick walls built and some railroad tie ideas. But I wanted a natural look. So I found a farmer with some free rocks. And so the story goes...
This is before.
