| I didn't wanna say 'babies' that's so immature...I know FL uses the term, but I think it's ridiculous for an adult. I didn't wanna say "Ladies" because those who tend the house aren't always of the female persuasion. So "folks" seemed to work for me.
I desperately need to get back on that bandwagon. Wondering how many we have here at DG, and how many 'gardeners' have found they have neglected the inside of the house for more 'greener pastures' outside because it's, well, just more FUN outside! |

| I always neglect the inside of the house. Gardening is a better excuse for my "bad behavior" in the summer than in the winter here - because it snows and the ground if frozen! |

| I'm a Sidetracked Home Executive too. *L* Haven't practiced Flying in a while but need to get back with it also. It's just hard to stay in when it's so pretty outside. |

| Ive fallen off the wagon also. I just found that the fly lady schedule doesn't cover what I need to cover. I love the concept, but it doesn't fit a person with 2 greenhouses, 2.5 acres of garden/would-be garden and a 12 room two story house to take care of. The concept is good but it doesn't fit me. |

| I think I'm going to try to modify it...I can't stay in one room (Zone) for 15 MINUTES, let alone an ENTIRE week!
Maybe I just need a "project" list...then I can at least pick something that I WANT to do at any given point. |

| The most important things I picked up so far:
The idea of zones. But my zones are not her zones.
Routines. Especially the night time routine of finding clothes for the next day, and making a to do list for the a.m. when energy is high.
Decluttering each zone, routinely, even if you don't clean it that day.
Buy something, throw something out. (Well for me, its throw 5 things out or in the donation box). the objective is not only to get rid of things, but to upgrade what I do have to workable and comfortable.
Beyond that, Im working on checklists to get things done in a timely and orderly manner. |

| Hello to all from a fellow Fly Person!
I've been flying for quite a few years, and have just in the past year gotten the 'hang of it'. Many days I get discouraged, but many more days I am OK! |

| there are a ton of emails...i've had a hard time keeping up with emails...i'm hoping to get back to baby steps vs backward steps...
i like the idea that a lot can be done in small increments of time vs having to have a day or days or weeks with lots of outside help...i try to push myself with a couple to several small periods of time & it is starting to make a difference...perhaps in a couple of weeks or so i'll have what would be an average place to start vs overwhelming :-) |

| I have been with Flylady for 3 years now. I think we all have to adapt this to what we have to do and different areas of our h ome. You have to dedicate yourself to this at first and it was really fun to see it coming around. I had surgery in May so haven't been able to do a lot of things for a while but feeling better now and I find I remember all the routines. I just start out with my morning routine, I don't get to do all the extras yet but that will come. Last night my kitchen looked very not company ready. While cooking things for potato salad I started on the kitchen, set my timer for 15 min. I moved my canisters and cleaned the counter top, had to scrub stains with baking soda, then used car wax to make it shine, I have a stainless steel sink so I used steel wool on it to clean built off gunk off. Then sprayed with windex. Now my kitchen is ready. Good luck everyone. Yvonne |

| Yvonne:
Have you ever tried Barkeepers Friend on your stainless steel sink? I've used it, and it works great!! I have used it in the bath tub, too, from time to time. |

| I was doing the flylady thing. Then had surgery and couldn't do much for a couple of months...got out of the habit. I figure I may pick it back up in the cooler months when my gardens aren't calling out to me! |

| I hope you are recovering OK from the surgery!!
My gardens call to me all the time, so I know what you mean. Some days I just have to turn a deaf ear. Other days, I'm out there all morning. It balances out, for the most part. |

| Candyce, I have used Bar Keepers friend also. I like it too. Jod62427 you sound like me with the surgery and it takes a while to get back in the swing of things. I'm sure glad I found this thread. Yvonne |

| I checked it out a few years ago and got the emails for awhile. It was good motivation for me as I have always done things similarly. I used to set timers for my daughter just to show her how little time it takes to do the things that keep the house looking nice. I do my yard in sections too. I check the entire yard (and house) daily and do whatever screems to be done. But pick a section and work on it for how ever long it needs. I have a Hallmark card program that has a calendar that will give me daily reminders. I have some things that need to be done in there. Like changing the various filters. I need to get back to flylady's way of not turning on the computer until I have the house straight. I have had foot problems and would set my timer for 15 minutes and then sit at the computer for 15 to rest my feet! I would tend to get engrossed in DG and not go back to work every 15 minutes! LOL!

| I'm completely recovered from the surgery...I do have Crohn's disease so I have issues to deal with all the time, but I do ok. I have some big projects i need to get to, but they will have to wait till fall.
We have been watering like crazy, but got rain yesterday so the grass will really start growing again...yee haw! |
