HI Everyone,
I have a Vintage Japanese Nelson Knitter, the SR-7 & SK-7 (ribber). I believe these are also known as Silver Reed, The Knitten Kitten, and the Studio. I do believe this machine to be circa 1959 or 1960. I have all of the working pieces. but NO idea how to set it up. It came with about a decade of Machine Knitters News Letter all arranged in a nice folder, but came with NO manual.
I was wondering if anyone has a working manual they would be willing to photo copy or scan for these machines, OR if someone could help me out getting this up and running?
I was so excited to receive this machine, but I only know how to knit by hand with sticks. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in Advance.
Suz
Have you tried searching on Google for the name of the machine plus the word manual or instructions? I don't know about older things like that, but I've had good luck finding manuals for things like garage door openers, sprinkler systems, fridges, etc that have been left for me with no manuals by previous owners of houses I've lived in.
Google was the first thing I tired. No luck there. Then I tried ebay. Now I am trying posting on forums.
Thanks so much for responding so quickly though. I hope someone somewhere can help me find the maunal! =)
I am a machine knitter, but do not have the information that you need on that machine. If you lived here, I am sure I could set it up and show you. I know there are probably others like me in your area. Trick is to find them.
A real person would even be better than a manual.
Years ago, we had a club around here for machine knitters, because knitting from manuals and books was not enough information for most people. Most machines are quite simular in the way they are set up and run. I hope you find someone to help you. You would have a great time with your "new" machine.
