I want to replace the carpet in my living room with laminate floor. The same carpet continues up the stairs from this room, and I would like to keep the carpet here. How do I deal with the transition between the flooring and the first carpeted riser?
Any help would be appreciated.
Chances are good that the carpeting on the bottom stair riser (the vertical part) is another piece - when the carpet on the floor is removed, the carpet on the stair should be intact. Hopefully, anyway...
If there's a major height difference between the carpeting on the floor and the new lamininate floor, you can add a piece of molding to hide the joint at the first stair riser.
