| Just curious, what criteria is used to determine the popularity rankings in PlantFiles? Is it the net number of positive comments (pos - neg), something else, or multiple criteria?
Specifically, I was wondering about Tomatoes, don't know if that makes a difference in the answer to my question.
Thanks! |

| I wonder about this too - I figure it's the number of views a plant has had, but that's just a guess |

| I always assumed it was the number of views as well. |

| Or could it be be the number of people who report growing it? |

| Don't know about tomatoes, but some of the lesser frequented areas like potatoes , melons, etc don't make much sense in the popularity column. With all the new projects, I think Dave has put PlantFiles on the back burner. He will get around to it one of these days. |

Thanks. |

| I've been watching this thread, hoping Terry or Mystic might see it and tell all of us. :) I don't know either. |

| I'm not sure either. I think it's the number of positive comments. |

| Well, I'd have to say...I honestly don't remember. I'm pretty sure it's either ZIP codes added or number of comments for each variety that ranks them ;o) |

| Terry, take look at these: Corn - Items 3-10 seem random, no photos, no grower comments. no zipcode reports. http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/finder/index.php?sname=Corn Melons- Items 5-10 ditto. http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/finder/index.php?sname=Melo... Potatoes- Items 4-10 http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/finder/index.php?sname=Pota... Squash- Items 9-10 ditto. http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/finder/index.php?sname=Squa...
Beans, peppers and tomatoes seem to be ok. I just assume that Dave has been busy with other projects and has not gotten around to this problem. |

| Shrug...I really don't know. I guess it is a mystery that Dave will have to unravel for us ;o) |
